Chapter 2(of 6)  10 days from the construction started in Japanese    8159

In shower

The installation of scaffold started in the threat of rain. It was assembled less than a day by two workers because it was a house of 100 square meters. They completed it in occasional rain.
The following day, a work man and a field supervisor came at 8AM when the rain did not fall. The day had been scheduled to clean the roof tile, the roof edge line, and outside wall by a pressure washing machine. However, the washing did not start though nine o’clock had passed. I went outside to confirm the reason and found the two people were perplexed. Any water did not come outside from the nozzle.
Examining it with them, I found there was a problem in usage. I told them my thoughts.

Soon, water came out and the work was able to begin. After a while, it began to rain. The work continued though the rain gradually became heavy.

I asked to the worker, “Is it a hard work in the rain?”  The answer came, “it is easier than on sunny days, because I should not be careful about the water splashing to the laundry of surrounding houses.

I had requested washing the surrounding wall to the construction company because I was going to paint it for myself.

The third day
In the noise

The construction of peeling the mortar frame of house had started.

First of all, it began from the house wall in the east and the north side according to the construction schedule. Two carpenters peeled off the mortar after cutting it into parts by a rim saw, and detached wooden board by a bar. It emitted some noisy sound which made us irritated.

In addition, a trouble occurred. Wall cloth of a near inside wall cracked when the wooden board was pulled by the bar. I told that to the young field supervisor at once.

The fifth day
Heat insulation in wall recycled

The wooden board plates were removed and the gray inner wall appeared when the heat insulator was detached. The detached insulators were collected to one place for me, because I had thought to spread them over the ceiling. Usually detached insulators are junked, but this time the carpenters had to handle them carefully when they detached them.

The second week
White ant damage was found

One of the carpenters discovered that the white ants had eaten the pillar on the side of the rest room, and it was two thirds of the original thickness. The carpenter reinforced it with a splint and spread white ant exterminating medicines around the pillar.

Two days later, I observed the pillar in the door porch in detail. Though externals were seen to be safe, I pecked inside by a driver head, and then it turned out that white ants had also eaten the pillar.

They substitute the pillar and the part which was inserted in the soil under the floor replaced to a stainless metal fittings.

Meanwhile, it came to my mind that the roof tiles might be able to be painted by ourselves.
